The Toddler Sleep Guide

Are you asking yourself, “Why won’t my tiny human just GO TO SLEEP?”

Every night, it’s the same exhausting routine. One more hug, one more song, one more sip of water… and somehow, your toddler has become a philosopher with urgent questions about the meaning of life right at bedtime.

And it doesn’t stop there. Even if you do get them down, you know the night is far from over. You brace yourself for those middle-of-the-night wake-ups, the midnight wanderings, the sudden cries, the tiny silhouette at your bedside at 3 AM.

You’ve Googled
all the things. You’ve tried all the tricks. And yet, here you are, running on caffeine and the fragile hope that one day, evenings will actually belong to you again.

That’s exactly why I created this guide – for sleep deprived, negotiation-weary parents who are ready for real, practical solutions.

Inside, you’ll find straightforward, no-BS strategies to help your little bedtime lawyer finally settle in for sleep, without endless stalling, power struggles, or those middle of the night surprise visits.

Because honestly, there’s only so much coffee can do, and you both deserve to wake up feeling refreshed. Let’s get you and that adorable night owl sleeping like pros!

What my clients say about working with me

OK let’s be real.

Parenting beyond the baby stage? It’s a whole new level of challenging. Your little one is walking, talking, and full of big feelings (and even bigger tantrums). And bedtime? Suddenly a nightly battle of negotiations, protests, and endless “one more” requests.

Now, it’s not just their sleep that’s suffering—it’s yours too.

You know sleep is essential for both of you, and you’ve tried everything to get them to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up at a reasonable hour.

But here you are, a member of the “Seriously, why won’t you sleep?” club, where coffee is a food group, 5AM is the new “sleeping in,” and middle-of-the-night surprise visits from a wide-awake toddler have become your new normal.

Your nights? They’re just not working.

But here’s the good news—it doesn’t have to be this way.

Does this sound familiar?

😴 You’re tired of playing musical beds every night, sneaking out like a ninja only to be dragged back in, and dreaming of the day you can stretch out in your own bed without a tiny foot in your face.

😴 Your toddler’s late-night wanderings mean you never know if you’ll wake up alone or with a small human mysteriously wedged between you and the edge of the bed.

😴 And those crack-of-dawn parties your little one insists on throwing (before the sun is even awake)? They’re wearing thin, and you’d give anything for a morning that actually starts… well, in the morning.

And all this no-sleep business? It’s not just exhausting, it’s draining. It leaves you running on empty, doubting yourself, and struggling to enjoy the parts of parenting that should feel good. Instead of soaking in the sweet moments, you’re just trying to survive the day.

But here’s the deal: I’ve been exactly where you are, battling sleepless nights, wondering if things would ever get better. And I’ve also helped hundreds of parents come out the other side.

Change is totally doable. And I can show you how.

You're not alone

I have been in your shoes.

I’m a mum of two young boys, and trust me: I’ve been deep in the sleep deprivation trenches. And calling it torture? That’s not an exaggeration. It is torture.

Because loving your kiddo to bits doesn’t make the exhaustion any less brutal. It still messes with your head, your health, your patience, and even your relationships. Sound familiar?

With my first baby, I powered through, convinced I could figure it out on my own. I waited way too long before finally waving the white flag and getting slep help. And the difference? Mind blowing.

My son started sleeping—like, actually sleeping. Our whole family dynamic shifted. We were happier, healthier, and way less snappy with each other. I remember thinking, Why didn’t I do this sooner?

That’s when I knew—I wanted to help other exhausted parents before they hit rock bottom.

So I went all in on sleep science, studied the research, and started Young Sleep Support. And here’s what makes my approach different:

It’s realistic. No rigid schedules or impossible expectations—just practical, tailored strategies that actually work for your family.
It’s gentle. No harsh sleep training or leaving your child to cry —I help you to understand your toddler’s behaviour and use connection-based sleep strategies that feel right.
It’s actionable. No fluff, no overwhelm—just clear, step-by-step guidance so you know exactly what to do.

I’m here to shake up the status quo and help you finally get the sleep you all need—without the guilt, stress, or confusion. Let’s get you and your adorable little night owl some rest!

Imagine the Possibility

What if I told you there was a better way?

We all know the old-school sleep training methods like cry-it-out.

Maybe the thought of leaving your little one to cry alone just doesn’t sit right with you. Or maybe you tried it, and, well… let’s just say your toddler wasn’t on board.

Either way, you know that approach isn’t for you.

But now you’re stuck wondering: How on earth do I get this tiny bedtime bandit to actually stay in bed and sleep through the night?!

That’s exactly what my Toddler Sleep Guide will teach you.

What my clients say about working with me

Our one year old had never slept through, he would wake between 3-6 times a night and could only be settled by Mum. Sleep had become a distant memory…. After working with Shannon he now sleeps right through, it truly is amazing! I cannot thank Shannon enough, my only regret is that we didn’t engage her sooner. Shannon is so passionate about helping your little one learn to sleep independently. Her advice and strategies was outstanding. We felt supported during the whole process and Shannon’s calm approach was exactly what we needed. This was a truly life changing experience, don’t think twice if your story sounds like ours.

– SARAH & PETER

Prior to getting assistance from Shannon, my 22month old daughter had never slept through the night.

Every night we would experience multiple wake-ups with hours of resettling. Shannon’s approach was very gentle and informative. She provided us with so much support. Since starting… our daughter has learnt how to self settle and is now sleeping through every night. We have the necessary tools to be able to deal with any future sleep regressions.

-ALEXANDRA B.

Our 6-month-old daughter was stuck in the routine of contact naps during the day and waking frequently overnight. Safe to say we were exhausted.

Shannon crafted a personalised and detailed sleep plan that reflected our gentle parenting style. The ongoing phone support was excellent and always provided a boost of confidence and encouragement.

We saw positive changes within a few days and by the end our daughter was falling asleep with minimal intervention and resettling quickly overnight. We are so grateful for all the knowledge, support and kindness provided by Shannon.

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Shannon.

I’m a Certified Infant & Child Sleep Consultant and Gentle Sleep Educator, and nothing brings me more joy than helping exhausted parents like you reclaim their sleep, their sanity, and their evenings.

Over the years, I’ve helped countless families completely transform their child’s sleep – without sleep training, without power struggles, and without losing sight of what truly matters: connection, trust, and a parenting approach that actually feels right.

As a mum of two, I know firsthand how draining those sleepless nights can be. I’ve been where you are, running on caffeine, Googling “why won’t my child sleep” at ridiculous hours, and feeling like I was failing because nothing seemed to work.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned? Parents don’t need complicated sleep advice. They need something they can actually use, something that makes sense when they’re half-asleep at 3 AM, trying to navigate yet another wake-up.

That’s exactly why I created the Toddler Sleep Guide—a straightforward, easy-to-follow resource designed to give you the tools, strategies, and confidence to help your little one sleep better without stress or guilt.

I truly believe every parent deserves access to real, practical sleep solutions that respect their child and align with their parenting values. And this guide? It’s my way of making that support more accessible, so you don’t have to navigate this alone.

I can’t wait for you to start using this guide and experience the huge difference it can make, for your child and for you. Because you deserve a full night’s sleep too.

You've got questions? I have answers!

That’s the goal! This guide is all about empowering you with knowledge and tools to teach your baby the skills to have longer, more restful sleep, and it’s very realistic for children in this age group to be able to sleep through the night.

While every child is different, I have helped SO many parents using the strategies in this guide to achieve that elusive full night’s sleep, longer naps, and an overall happier, well-rested child (and parent!).

This guide also caters to those who are still feeding overnight and I would never suggest night weaning before you and your child are ready.
This guide is not about promising overnight miracles or immediate results.

Depending on your child, and on the settling strategy that suits you and your family best (there’s lots to choose from in the guide :)), in general it can take 1-3 weeks of consistency to see an improvement in your child’s sleep.

This guide has strategies and tools to suit children from 18 months to 4 years of age.

No. I don’t use cry-it-out or variations of cry-it-out such as controlled crying. I focus on gentle, responsive methods so that you can teach your child independent sleep in a way that feels good.
